Due to the complexity of the issue, and the importance of the Mendenhall Wetlands to the citizens of Juneau, the Territorial Sportsmen and the Mendenhall Wetlands Study Group and other cooperating organizations are sponsoring a Public Forum to more openly discuss the present study concerning the 2nd Crossing of Gastineau Channel to Douglas Island.
Several long term fiscal obligations and commitments are being considered for the Borough with permanent environmental impacts being purposely minimized. Juneau Residents need to be fully informed of these long term obligations and impacts before the final decisions are made.
Participation in the Forum is expected from: the City and Borough of Juneau (who have requested the new crossing study), DOWL (who is leading this study of possible crossing routes), the Alaska Department of Fish & Game, the United States Fish and Wildlife Service, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Southeast Alaska Land Trust, N. Douglas Neighborhood Association and several cooperating organizations.
The Forum will be also available on-line via zoom: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81824791850?pwd=K72xbMvS7uOix8kg7hGvzbYxxY6CXE.1
