Members are important to us and we want to give back to you. On the second Thursday of the month, October through April, we offer an evening educational program about birds or other wildlife, conservation, scientific research, natural history or other related topics. Programs are free and open to the public, usually an hour long, and begin with membership announcements pertaining to the business of the board, followed by a presentation.

Learning from nature can be a lifelong process and here in Southeast Alaska the environment and species are spectacular and fascinating. The Tongass National Forest covers nearly 17 million acres and the bird species count tops 350. We are fortunate to have a community rich in scientists, teachers, artists, and other specialists who share their knowledge and insight about birds, ecology, conservation issues and more through a classroom and/or field setting.

Introducing youth to nature and wildlife, and encouraging curiosity and wonder, we believe can be the beginning to a lifelong interest and concern for our planet and conservation issues.
