National Audubon Society recognizes Juneau resident, George Utermohle, with the Great Egret Award!

The Great Egret Award, a prestigious accolade from the National Audubon Society, recognizes individuals who have made substantial, long-term contributions to Audubon and conservation efforts aligned with the organization’s mission.

This award celebrates a lifetime of dedication and achievement in support of Audubon. To qualify, individuals must have actively supported the Audubon mission for at least twenty years, whether as volunteers or staff members, and must have made notable contributions at the local chapter, center, state, regional, or national levels. Recipients receive a certificate signed by the President and the Chair of the Board of Directors of the National Audubon Society.

George’s Award Citation reads, “In recognition of four plus decades of commitment and dedication to the Juneau chapter of the National Audubon Society, thank you for your years of service as a steadfast volunteer, past board member, and tireless webmaster. With sincerest gratitude for all that you do and have done for the well-being of birds, other wildlife, and their habitats. Your outstanding service is recognized and greatly appreciated.

We already know what a great advocate, supporter, and friend George is, and we’re thrilled for his national recognition of his contributions! Thank you, George!
